Catriona Lemay Doan - A Race Against Time
As a spokesperson for MRFC, Catriona LeMay Doan is a perfect fit. She is the fastest woman on ice and knows all too well how quickly meningitis strikes. Children are particularly vulnerable to this preventable disease and with a growing family Catriona realizes the need to protect her children.
When we first approached her, Catriona didn’t know a lot about meningitis – unfortunately, most people don’t. As soon as she discovered the tragic nature of meningitis and that there are vaccines available to prevent it, she didn’t hesitate for a moment.
Like the 500-meter race, meningitis is a race against time. One takes less than 38 seconds. The other can be fatal in less than 12 hours. Both races require knowledge and preparation for success. Catriona’s message will help raise awareness about the disease and the new vaccine options that are available. As for her own family, Catriona has decided to vaccinate her children. And she encourages everyone to learn as much as possible about meningitis so we can all win the race against time.
