On March 14, 2002 my son came down with flu like symptoms. I treated it as such, fluids, rest and Tylinol. He slept on the couch all-day and rested. At 8:00 P.M. that night he became delirious and confused. We called an ambulance and he was taken to our local hospital. Half an hour later he was being transferred to the London University Hospital. He was examined in ER and was then sent to ICU and put in isolation. As the night wore on his condition worsened and by 5:00 P.M. Friday night, March 15, 2002, he was dead.
The disease that killed my son was a form of Meningococcal Meningitis strain "C". It affects the age group 24 and under and there is a vaccine for this disease. This disease took only 29 hours to kill our son. It is my hope that you will pass this on to everyone and help me educate parents on the availability of an inoculation for this swift killing disease.
At this time I am writing to my Provincial and Federal Governments and working with local health officials to have this inoculation made mandatory for all people less than 24 years of age. My hope is that you will write to your MP and MPP to show your support in this endeavor.
