On May 18, 2001 we lost our precious, little grandson Tye to meningeccoccal septecimia. Tye was a lively, happy little boy who touched many lives in our community. On May 16th Tye was as healthy as could be, he and grandma played at the park which was almost a daily routine as Tye loved the outdoors; and I also remember his Dad trying to show him how to golf in the back yard.
On the morning of May 17th Tye woke up with a slight fever and his Dad, called me to see if I could bring him some children´s tylenol. Tye was listless for the day but he was drinking lots of fluids and eating popsicles and watched his favorite movie Toy story. At approximately 7:00 p.m. Tye´s parents brought him to the clinic to get checked and the doctor diagnosed him with the flu and sent him home with some antibiotics which was administered to him as per directions.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. May 18/01 Tye woke up and wanted to go play outside. His Dad told him he was not feeling good enough so he then wanted to go sleep with his Mommy. A little while longer, his Mom woke up screaming as Tye was blue. His Dad administered CPR while his Mom called 911. They worked on Tye for quite a while at the hospital but to no avail, we had lost our little Tye. On his Dad´s 23rd birthday he was picking out a casket for his little boy; twelve short weeks later his Dad was involved in a motor vehicle accident and we lost him also.
